Midlands Community College
The Midlands Community College’s work is based on the belief that education provides a path out of poverty and that every adult, young person and child should be afforded access to quality education. Their goal is to empower individuals from disadvantaged communities by providing them with solid and meaningful educational opportunities. Midlands Community College is a provisionally accredited Further Education and Training College (FET), situated in the Kwazulu Natal Midlands area. It has progressively gained a solid reputation over the years for Maths and Science programmes as well as programmes in Early Childhood Education (ECD). Also, the college offers short course programmes in computers, vegetable gardening, cooking, catering and welding. The college is under a lot of pressure due to more community’s rising interest in studying at the college. The school can only accommodate approximately 120 students but there is a pressing need to expand the college to accommodate additional learners.
A 10 year phased master plan was designed, and priced so that the proposal could be submitted to government and NGO’s for funding.
